AIRPORT PIECE

This piece began when Sims became enamored of the hand baggage scanners in Newark airport . She wondered what would happen if she just carried an off-scale transparent piece of hand luggage (with facsimiles of different types of weapons) through the checkers, etc. It was supposed to have been performed with other artists who had etched machine guns (on paper), etc., and photographed throughout documenting the reactions of the officials included.

The piece was silkscreened on vinyl with metallic inks. Included in the piece were life sized give-away guns and grenades, printed on Vinyl with metallic inks, which curled over from the heat of the hand while being held. To date, this piece has not been performed.
