WATERCOLOR COLLAGES

In the late 80's Sims started to compose paper collages from her watercolors. At that time she was rebelling against the high costs of watercolor paper, paints and framing, etc. while also rejecting the 'jury system' that catagorized work and charged entry fees for shows and exhibitions. She wanted to explore new directions so she began to combine materials and 3D effects. She found making collages to be a more contemplative way of working.
