M. K. Sims traveled and worked in New York City in the 1960s and 70s. Here she associated with artists of the avant garde and her work became highly critical of establishment art, art organizations, the current political environment and rules/regulations in general with an emphasis on women's place in the scheme of things. Over the years she has created many environmental pieces as well as satirical and tongue-in-cheek works.
